How To Do Without The "Cant-do-without" Stuff..
No matter how much you try to improve your financial situation, it all boils down to keeping tabs on your spending. How many times have you come home after a "spending spree" and regretted a particular purchase? The answer is a countless number of times. However, just regretting foolish expenditure is not enough - getting down to taking serious steps towards stopping it is the thing to do. It is never too late to take stock of the situation and improve your financial status.
Spending less than what you earn
This is an area most people struggle with. Keep tabs on what you have been spending each week and do away with the unnecessary stuff that you don't really need. Be honest and admit it - you don't really have to have half the stuff you insist on buying. A week without it, won't kill you. Soon you will find that it is easy to do without.

A personal budget helps
This means you have to have a financial plan for a specific amount of cash. This should include all your expenses on a monthly basis and your income. Your budget should also include your outstanding debts, savings, and money for emergencies. What better way to understand where and how you will be spending your money. This budget plan will also help you to determine if you are in a position to afford a car, home, or a computer that you have been wanting for some time now. Keep track of your finances and know exactly how much is coming in and how much is going out.
Adjust your expenses
If your income does not seem to cover all your expenses every month than you have no way out but to cut costs and adjust your expenses. As mentioned before, a lot is spent on unnecessary items that you can actually do without. Cut down on your entertaining - you need to see to your family first- friends can wait for some time. Eat at home instead of dining out at expensive hotels. You don't have to go to the movies very week. You could try visiting your coffee shop once a week instead of the usual five times. Cancel some of the movie channels you are paying for but not watching. Keep your expenses to the bare minimum that covers your utility bills, food, transportation, clothing and health care. The rest can be slowly but surely cut down on.
It does not matter how late you start but you should begin to save a little every month. Don't hesitate to squirrel away a bit regularly. Before you know it you will have a tidy sum to pay of your debts and start anew on a more solid footing. Try not to accrue a large interest on your credit card because then earning a meager 5% on your savings will not do much good. Don't ever forget that money is not everything. Once you learn to manage your finances, you can concentrate on your family, health, and happiness.
